In-Transition Networking Group

The Morris NJ SHRM Chapter offers a valuable resource to individuals who are in an employment transition (i.e., are either currently unemployed, or know that they will be soon), in the form of an In-Transition Networking Group that meets several times a year.  This Group is facilitated by our Chapter's Professional Employment Services Chair, Laurie Murphy, who has 10+ years experience as the owner of a successful recruiting and talent management consulting firm, PeopleAreKey, Inc., as well as 15+ years experience in various corporate HR positions.

Services provided through the In-Transition Networking Group help participants to:

• Connect with other HR professionals who are in transition and identify ways to help each another in mutually beneficial ways
• Expand their network and effectively utilize and share networking contacts
• Identify and share effective job search strategies as well as lessons learned
• Cultivate relationships with external recruiters and other individuals who can faciliate their job search efforts
• Learn methods to concisely articulate their qualifications and employment objectives and present themselves to others appropriately (via various means of communication: 30-second pitch, resume, email, telephone, meetings, etc.)
• Understand trends/practices in the current employment market
• And more...

Meeting dates/times are announced in the Chapter's email announcements and posted on the web site.  Meetings are scheduled on some (but not all) of the dates when the Chapter's monthly program meetings occur, and are held either just before or after the monthy program meeting (at the same location). 

The registration process for the Chapter's monthly program meetings and the In-Transition Networking Group's meetings is separate, and there is no fee involved to participate in the In-Transition Networking Group.  It is open to Chapter members as well as individuals who may be considering membership affiliation with the Morris NJ SHRM Chapter.
